Training and Education Opportunities
Training:
In addition to training topics presented during our monthly chapter lunches, the ISSA South Texas Chapter offers two types of education for our members and guests:
-
- Professional vendor security-related certification preparation (e.g., ISACA, ISC^2, and CompTIA)
- Additional training opportunities (e.g., Shodan, NERC CIP/TSA SD02, Kali Linux USB Creation)
- Professional vendor security-related certification preparation (e.g., ISACA, ISC^2, and CompTIA)
Both types of activities qualify for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) hours and provide attendees with program receipts documenting this training. Most events are offered at reduced pricing for South Texas ISSA members (some training is no cost for members).
Contact Dr. Tom at [email protected] to learn more about how our educational offerings taught by qualified instructors can help you prepare for valuable professional certifications. For example:
-
- ISC2 CISSP (https://www.isc2.org/certifications)
- ISACA CISA, CISM, and CRISC (https://www.isaca.org/credentialing)
- CompTIA Security+ (https://www.comptia.org/certifications)
- CSA CCSK (https://cloudsecurityalliance.org/education/ccsk/)
- ISC2 CISSP (https://www.isc2.org/certifications)
Sample non-certification-related topics include:

- AI and ML
- Wireless security
- IT forensic tools
- Support for security initiatives
Additionally, we are certified by the Texas Public Board of Accountancy to issue Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits for those members holding or seeking security certifications. This means we can automatically submit, for our members holding ISC2 CISSP certifications, CEU hours for their attendance at chapter meetings and education sessions. To take advantage of this service, we ask our members to verify their CISSP numbers and ISSA membership status when signing in for these events and specify their CPE credit submission request on the event sign-in sheet.

These Seminar Programs provide training and information sharing opportunities in the local area for members of the Security profession. Costs vary by session and location. Please refer to the specific contact and reservation instructions contained in these respective seminar description documents.
Our Seminar programs are listed on our Monthly Meetings Page.
Related Program Offerings
We occasionally cooperate with other Professional Organizations and Event Organizers which may be of interest and benefit to our ISSA Members and Guests to hold conferences, or to provide discounts to our members for third-party events. Details will be posted as these opportunities occur in the Events tab under the Meetings & Event Information .
